Electrical Trauma Program

The Electrical Trauma Program (ETP) is an interdisciplinary and multi-institutional program comprising a team of clinicians, epidemiologists, biologists, and engineers working towards a better understanding, improved diagnosis, and treatment of electrical injuries. In June 2000, the University of Chicago Electrical Trauma Program has established a clinical and research collaboration with St. Mary Medical Center of Hobart, Indiana, (click to go to the SMMC web page) in order to make the ETP resources available to electrical injury survivors in Indiana and Michigan.

Primary clinical services:

  • Comprehensive multi-disciplinary evaluation and treatment of electrical injury survivors;
  • Acute care of high voltage electrical injuries.
Primary research areas:
  • Injury prevention strategies;
  • Enhanced therapeutic approaches;
  • Effective rehabilitation.
